A massive part of the job satisfaction that comes from being a cinematic wedding videographer is the sheer pleasure of seeing and capturing people at their best.

A wedding day is a day like no other it is planned to perfection, anticipated months, even years in advance and is a day that will be remembered fondly by everyone in attendance, hopefully for the rest of their lives.

There are smiles, nerves and always a feeling of love and celebration. Those things are the same for every wedding, regardless of size or venue, and regardless of things such as culture, sexuality or gender.

At Highlander Studio, our responsibility lies in capturing and preserving those moments forever. It is a privilege we never tire of.

Playing a part in Kerry and Mirja’s wedding and creating the perfect cinematic wedding film for them was a both a privilege and a pleasure.

A perfect venue for the perfect day

Wentworth Woodhouse is a stately Georgian jewel set amongst the lush, green parkland and wide open skies of South Yorkshire. It is a Grade 1 listed stately home boasting what is thought to be the longest and most impressive façade of any country house in England.

When it comes to a wedding venue capable of delivering the wow factor, this classical, baroque masterpiece had everything the happy couple could ever need.

From a South Yorkshire wedding videographer’s point of view, it inspires creativity and a real sense of local pride.

If Wentworth Woodhouse looks impressive from the ground though, then it looks even more so from the air and our experience with aerial drone videography meant we were able to showcase the venue in ways that formed a key part of Kerry and Mirja’s cinematic wedding experience.

Weddings have evolved in recent times to reflect and celebrate the diversity and inclusivity of modern society. Wentworth Woodhouse and its timeless elegance and grandeur continues to be an impressive setting and much of our work in production of Kerry and Mirja’s wedding film focused on the preparations, the small details and the arrival of family and friends at the main entrance, many of whom travelled a long way from Mirja’s native Germany to share in her and Kerry’s big day.

An unforgettable entrance

If the arrival of friends and family was impressive, then the arrival of the happy couple was on a whole other level. Mirja, being a licensed pilot by trade arrived with her entourage via helicopter, beaming with happiness and looking ‘rock star’ cool while Kerry’s arrival was courtesy of a traditional four horse carriage drawn gracefully and beautifully by a quartet of Friesian horses through the grounds towards the main entrance and her waiting future wife.

Capturing those big moments perfectly needed planning and skill to execute, the results were thrilling. Capturing other key moments of the wedding in what is considered one of England’s largest private residences were just as big a task, involving meticulous planning and working closely with Kerry, Mirja and the amazing staff at Wentworth Woodhouse.

Kerry and Mirja exchanged their wedding vows in front of friends and family at the foot of the main hall’s staircase and then, after canapés, drinks and an afternoon absorbing the unique and memorable atmosphere of the venue and the excellent company therein, the happy couple left together on their horse-drawn carriage to begin the next chapter of their lives together.

In the years to come, they will have many happy memories of their day and thanks to Highlander Studios and more than a little planning, skill and hard work, a wedding film that does them all justice
